Meg + Ray | Married

2016-08-10_0010

The Variety Works Madison GA Wedding

Meg and Ray were married this June on a super hot day! These guys were troopers and we absolutely adored working with them. The Variety Works in Madison, GA a favorite reception location of ours! The historic building  with all the original charm (old wood walls, concrete floor and stunning chandeliers) make a perfect rustic yet refined backdrop for a wedding.

Here was the inspiration for the day, in the bride's words! "We love everything Southern. We pride ourselves on our classic, southern, hospitable way of life and wanted to incorporate that into our big day. That led us to our theme of “Southern Elegance”. We wanted our day to be fun, classic, and enjoyable for us, our families, the wedding party, and our guests. Ray and his groomsmen were the epitome of southern gentlemen in their seersucker suits, printed socks, and state of Georgia bowties by State Traditions. Meg was an elegant southern bride in her ecru wedding gown with lace overlay jacket, lace veil, blue Tory Burch shoes, and pearls. She also loves anything monogrammed, so monograms were tastefully scattered throughout bits and pieces of the wedding events. The bridesmaids were in classic, navy, one-shouldered, floor-length gowns and wore pearl earrings and bracelets. It was the perfect day in our eyes!"

There are so many amazing DIY aspects to this wedding - don't miss the details below and we hope you enjoy the images!

Here are some of the amazing details of this wedding! "Each member of Meg’s family, including both the bride and groom, wore heart patches made of blue seersucker fabric pinned to a spot in their attire for the wedding day. The seersucker fabric is from a favorite shirt that belonged to the bride’s father, who passed away in 2012. This was to signify that he was with everyone on the wedding day. The bride made the patches herself, using her embroidery machine.

The morning of the wedding, the bride and bridesmaids wore button down Columbia PFG shirts with a large monogram on the back of the shirt. The bridal party was also given tote bags with their monograms on them, as part of their gift. The bride created these items herself, as she owns a monogram business.

Additionally, the wreaths on the front doors of the church were created by the bride, the groom, and the bride’s mother. The bride’s mother sanded and painted each of the cream wooden H’s used at the wedding. Together, they all attached the H’s to the wreaths that hung on the front doors of the church. It was a beautiful welcome to the wedding guests.

We purchased the jellies used as wedding favors from a store near the bride’s hometown. We asked the store to leave the labels off of the jars. This allowed us to customize them ourselves. Using pinking shears, the bride cut pieces of fabric into squares and tied them around the tops of the jellies using twine. Affixed to the jars, one will find a tag with the term “Spread the Love” created and printed by the bride and groom.

The bride created her own garter set. The “keep” garter had the bride’s monogram in light blue thread. The “toss” garter had the words “You’re Next” embroidered on it. The bride embroidered the two garters using her embroidery machine on elastic cream lace, then sewed them together for a customized fit.

The centerpieces at the rehearsal dinner were also DIY. They were made of fresh pineapples, magnolia leaves, and magnolia blossoms. Under the centerpieces was a square piece of seersucker fabric, to keep with the theme of the weekend. The guests could enjoy the centerpieces while chowing down on a “pair of all the way chili steaks and a bag of rags” from the Varsity’s food truck!"

Meg's Bridal Session

What is a bridal session and why you should consider one

We LOVE when our clients decide to book a bridal session which is a session, before your wedding where you get to try on your dress, practice your makeup and work with us before your big day for some special portraits. Here are 3 reasons we think you should consider one too: 1 - It is a trial run for your wedding day and gives you an opportunity to see how the dress, shoes, hair and jewelry all work together and how it shows up on film. This gives you time to change something!

2- You get another chance (in addition to the engagement session) to work with us so on your wedding day you are completely comfortable and relaxed.

3 - Unique location - sometimes we're confined to locations near your ceremony or reception spot. Booking a separate session allows for a completely different look from the wedding day.

Enjoy!
